The Design and Research of Standard Address Database System Based on WebGIS in Panyu, Guangzhou








Abstract

In our daily life, every thing and every event were intimately related to spatial features. Due to fluidness of objects, such as locations of persons, sites of events, destinations of journeys, spatial information of those were often indeterminate. Those objects were often called non-spatial objects. Therefore it was impossible to collect spatial information and position them on the map. People often described the non-spatial objects with information combination of doorplate, place name and road. Electronic doorplate, place name and road were the core of address database which was an important part of fundamental geographic information database. The address database provided a new way for WebGIS applications in non-spatial objects. With the penetration of WebGIS application, address database was widely used in various industries. Data in each industry didnpsilat be shared due to lack of unified standards. It was necessary to build a standard address database and provided service for each industry. This paper which took Panyu as an example introduced the present status of address database application and discussed the architecture and main functions of the standard address database system in Panyu. It was a new idea for address database application and provided reference meaning for standard address database construction in other area.
